UNIV Forum


Il Forum è una delle attività dell'Incontro Universitario UNIV, che si tiene ogni anno a Roma. La 44 edizione del Forum si svolgerà martedì 19 aprile a partire dalle ore 10.30.

Ricercare, riflettere, dialogare, domandare, argomentare… sono attività che appartengono al cuore stesso della vita universitaria. È infatti caratteristica propria dell'università, nell'offrire una formazione tecnica e specializzata nelle varie discipline, cercare nello stesso tempo che gli studenti maturino un atteggiamento solido di rigore intellettuale e si confrontino con le grandi questioni della vita umana, della società, della scienza, della religione, ecc. Questi sono solo alcuni degli obiettivi che si propone il Forum UNIV.

Si può partecipare a tutte le attività come uditore, senza iscrizione previa. E in alcune è possibile presentare un lavoro o partecipare a una competizione; a tal fine, occorre prendere contatto con i rispettivi organizzatori.

PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES

10.30-11.45 INAUGURAL CONFERENCE, Striving towards great things por Alexandre Havard, Director del Havard Virtuous Leadership Institute, Moscow.

An expert in Leadership, whose flagship executive program makes the classical virtues the basis of personal excellence and professional performance. He has led the program in a variety of countries in English, Russian, French, and Spanish for business executives, educators, public officials, and MBA students. A graduate of one of France’s leading law schools, he has worked as an attorney-at-law in several European countries. (www.hvli.org)

12.00-13.00 WORKSHOPS – Various sessions held simultaneously for smaller groups. In these sessions the theme of the Forum will be developed in diverse contexts (leadership, media, medicine, architecture, etc.). Participants can freely decide which seminar they would like to attend. These sessions are by nature more interactive than the Inaugural Conference.

12.00-13.00 ONE UNIV, ONE BOOK Reading Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning* [English] – The leader of the seminar will give a short introduction to the book, inciting the audience to pose their own questions in developing a common discussion about the meaning of life, maintaining human dignity in difficult circumstances, the importance of humor, and maintaining hope and courage in the face of suffering.

12.00-17.15 4TH ANNUAL UNIV CASE STUDY COMPETITION* – Team competition based on a case study similar to those used by Harvard and IESE Business Schools. Participants should seek a solution that combines marketing, competitiveness, feasibility, and ethical principles. After presenting the conclusions of their work to an expert panel of jurors, a winner will be selected. Information-applications: Ed Bayo, casecompetition@case-method.at

Various interactive sessions are scheduled for the afternoon. In order to make a presentation in an afternoon session, one must enroll by contacting the respective Session Coordinator. To participate merely as a spectator, previous enrollment is not required.


15.15-17.15 PRESENTATIONS ON THE THEME OF THE 44TH UNIV FORUM* – Before an audience of University students and professors, participants will present either written works (with the aid of a PowerPoint presentation if desired) or posters presenting their research or reflections on the theme of UNIV2010. An international jury will award prizes to the best presentations.

7TH ANNUAL SOCIAL INITIATIVES FORUM* – University students from around the world present and discuss their social service initiatives. A jury will award monetary prizes to the two best presentations (First Place: 1,000 Euro, Second Place; 500 Euro), to be used in the financing of the projects in question.

UNIVTUBE 2011* A virtual forum in which university students from around the world share their views of the most pressing issues of our global society in a constructive, innovative, and artistic way. UNIVTUBE offers the opportunity of presenting a video-documentary in which the theme of UNIV2011 is investigated and developed. Awards —Pigne di Bronzo— will be given for various categories: Best Video Overall, Most Creative, Best Research Documentary, and Greatest Social Impact. The winning videos will be officially recognized and released on the website.

17.30-18.15 AWARDS CEREMONY AND PRESENTATION OF THE THEME OF UNIV2011 – Awards will be presented to the best Communications on the theme of 44th UNIV University Congress, as well as to the respective winners of the 6th Annual Social Initiatives Forum, of the 4th Annual UNIV Case Study Competition, of UNIVTube 2011, and of the University Debate Tournament. Additionally some of the winning projects will be displayed or projected.
